Here’s the raw footage of the event. I apologize in advance for the poor videography ie. camera shake / rough zooms and pans/ objects (the bush) being in the way. Normally when I shoot with my 7D I utilize a tripod and place a large emphasis on the framing of a shot and proper camera placement but then again this wasn’t exactly a planned shoot so set up time was minimal in the extreme. All camera wobble aside I’m still pretty lucky to have gotten something this gnarly on film. But still not as lucky as this guy is to be alive… June 21st 2011 at The Devil’s Punchbowl (Cedar Creek Falls) in East County San Diego. This guy is fortunate to be alive. He did end up having to be choppered out of the canyon and sent to the nearest trauma center (Palomar Hospital) due to the injuries he sustained to his legs and ribs but was still conscious and breathing. This could and should have been much much worse. Learn from this young mans mistake, leave cliff jumping anything over 60 feet to the professionals. This particular cliff edge happens to be approximately 100ft above the water below. Not smart…
